this ken with a mullet/tiny party-in-the-back ponytail caught my eye in an antique store. with a little research, i found out that this special edition doll was made in 1990. the familiar-looking face was danny wood, part of the popular boy band, new kids on the block.
he is not wearing the original clothing made for this official mattel d-32 ken/barbie doll. instead, this danny/ken doll is barefoot and wearing red shorts with elastic waist and an asian-style, mandarin-collared shirt. the shirt features a pattern of large, cream roses and fastens with three silver hook closures. (the shirt's only flaw is a hot pink spot on one rose.)
his hair is molded brown plastic on the top/sides, with a realistic-hair ponytail in the back.
