when our kids were all young, i always kept some fun items in my purse or the car or in a special "fun bag." i pulled out those when we waited for food at a restaurant or for an appointment or when their dad and i bowled in our leagues. by only using the special toys during those times, the kids looked forward to playing. i doled out one plastic baggie-ful of random items or toy at a time.
these days, most people hand over their phone to the kids to pass the time and play something fun. that works...but how about a no-batteries-or-recharging-needed activity?
hands-on activities are powerful tools for a child's brain and physical development. they can experiment and create with this fun activity. they will giggle. they will learn patience. they will get better each time they try this.
