attention, military collectors! this vintage canteen was made sometime between 1918 to the early 1940s. it could be more than 100-years-old. it could be 80-something-years-old.
this 1-quart, aluminum canteen's neck is marked "universal" and with the patent "may 5, 1914." the bottom is stamped "landers frary & clark/new britain, conn./usa."

this canteen is a real survivor. these particular u.s. army canteens went through several modifications. in 1910, the army field equipment became this style of one-piece, seamless, aluminum, quart-size canteen. they were made and designed by rock island arsenal. no markings appeared on any of the canteens pre-1918.

during world war ii, korea, and vietnam, the company made the "maxson quadmount," the m45 machine gun mount. it was used by both u.s. and french troops.

this canteen shows some wear and tear and aging, with some dents, dings, and scratches, but is overall in very, very good condition. when you open the cap, there is no odor.
