this "beauty box" by lincoln is a rare, all-chrome, vintage bread box.
the bakelite black knob turns to open or hold closed the drop-down front. inside, an extra shelf adds storage for more bread or baked goods (originally called a pie shelf). the space is divided into two sections, both large.
fun fact: when you open the door and it flips down, the wood on its back side was made to serve as a cutting board. in the old days, bread didn't come sliced.
you could use this bread box in your farmhouse, mid-century, or industrial-style kitchen. the chrome gives it such a classic, clean look. it is heavy-duty and so well-made.
this bread box is definitely vintage, so it is not perfect. the front door has an indented spot. you'll see dings and the expected cleaning scratch marks on the surface, but for its age and being an item used in an everyday kitchen, it's in pretty great condition for something from the 1950s.
it is super special to find an all-chrome lincoln bread box. i found this one in a tiny town's antique store out in the middle of kansas farmland. i suspect the breadbox was from one owner who took good care of it their whole life, and that's most likely why it survived and is in good shape.
