it is mind-boggling to realize this book is over an hundred years old. it is intact and in very good vintage condition.
i found this in a charming antique store in garibaldi, oregon, a tiny town near the pacific coastline. i felt especially thrilled, because i am a native of the ozarks. the book is set near mutton hollow in what is now the tourist town, branson, missouri
this cover and edition are rare-to-find. the binding is still together, with some of the first inside page and front cover showing a wider gap, but not unbound. the binding feels somewhat loose, but with careful handling, it should be fine. various specks, creases, small discolorations, and small imperfections are here and there. the front cover shows aging along the left spine and the imprinted title shows some fading on six letters in the title and on most of the author's name's lettering.
the only bigger flaw is that the very last page is nearly loose. it is with the book, but nearly detached. the spine at this part of the book is in the worst condition.
the book does not have any bad odor and from a non-smoking home.
the lovely woman on the cover shows a vintage dress and hairstyle.
the first page shows a beautifully-penned inscription: "To Bessie/from her/Teacher/E.J. Everett".
please examine the photos. i try to over-state and over-show everything, so each client knows exactly what they're getting and feels extra pleased when it arrives. if anything, i will always over-detail any and all condition issues.
