this retelling of "the little red hen" is the1982 renewal, with artwork by j.p. miller. its title page appears to show this as a 30th printing.
this particular story features the little red hen and her four farm friends: a duck, a goose, a cat, and a pig. it follows the classic story arc, with the hen asking for help and not getting any as she takes a grain of wheat all the way through the process to becoming hot, fresh bread to eat. and yes, she eats it all by herself.
the original price was $2.99, shown on the front cover's inside and on the back cover. the only other copies of this exact edition for sale online are three listed from $5.99 to $7.99, plus $2.25 to $3.45 shipping added to that.

the book's pages look nearly new. i did not find any markings or tears. the "this little golden book belongs to" square on the inside front cover is blank.
the back cover has the leftover price tag residue. the book shows minor aging and typical wear and tear. it is from a non-smoking home and has never been a library book.
