ok, ok, so little red riding hood looks a little, well, creepy on this cover. remember that those "sweet" fairy tales based on aesop's fables are not really the kind of material we think of as children's material.
this version of the story is told/illustrated by elizabeth orton jones, with a charming needlepoint-like title page.
i believe this is a first edition 1948 little golden book, with a "j" on the last page for the printing.
other books close to this same printing go for $35 all the way up to $599, with most in the $50-75 range.
i found this treasure in a tiny town's antique store outside kansas city.
