this small-sized book is the retelling of "the little red hen." a first little golden book, this is the classic heavy-cardboard cover, but a more petite size than the regular little golden book.
this book's artwork is by illustrator lilian obligado.
this book is now more than 40-years-old. it is fairly rare to find online. the others were priced much higher, at $12.99, and--gasp--$125. this exact 1981 edition is for sale on amazon for $36.84. each book also comes with about $4 shipping added to the price.
this retelling begins with, "once there was a little red hen who lived in a barnyard with her three chicks and a duck, a pig, and a cat." it uses the "not i" responses for the duck, the pig, and the cat.
the title page shows this book was published in 1981. it shows it being part of the "r" print run.
it's in very good condition. the pages are all intact. the book has no tears. the inside cover that says "this first little golden book book belongs to" portion is blank.
the book shows some normal aging and minor wear and tear. the only real flaws are two black marker spots on the title page (see the photos).
