full disclosure:  this three-verse song ends with a very sad, morbid twist. the charming period-style song is about three little girls, dulcie, daisy, and dorothy may. the ending has the angels steal away poor dorothy may.

yep. heartbreak and death are featured in many old stories and songs. the song's direction shows singing it in a "low voice." the ending line is directed to be sung with "tears in voice."

the words of the title song are written by h.l. harris. the music is written by guy d'hardelot.

the song is copyrighted 1901 by e. ascherberg & co,

the cover of this song collection shows music companies in new york and london.

a purple stamp on the front cover in all-caps shows:  the j.k. gill co./sheet music dept./fifth ave. at stark st.

the first song included is:  "white lilacs" with words by katherin ward, music by herbert ralph wari, to be sung "with deep feeling." it shows a copyright of 1915, by edward schuberth & co., the song number indicated as e.s. & co. 4288-4.

the next three pages of song is "three green bonnets." it is actually an insert into the front and back cover, like a special collection and it being like the most important song included.

the next song is "where dreams are made/a lullaby," with words by burges johnson, music by edward f. johnston, and by permission of the author burges johnson. the copyright is 1912, edward schuberth & co. the song number is e.s. & co. 4183. the song seems incomplete, as if it cuts off and needs more pages, though the next page is on the back, like it is either a production mistake or how intended.

note:  even the front cover seems slightly incomplete, as if part of the title at the top and something at the lower right were cut off.

the last song on the back cover is "what do you think of that?" the words and music are written by walter rolfe. the copyright is 1912 by edward schuberth & co. the song number is e.s. & co. 4212.

if you aren't interested in collecting vintage music, this could be lovely framed and make beautiful decor. you could even split up the pages and end up with multiple pieces to frame.

i found this interesting item near the oregon coastline in a tiny town named garibaldi.

vintage item, as-is, with the photos including every detail
