kids love to pretend. the little boy in the book pretends to be a bear, bee, fish, puppy, bird, steam shovel, farmer, bunny, horse, rooster, and kitten. little ones today would enjoy the book.
this book is beyond special.
i absolutely love the sweet, fun premise. i'm very picky about children's books. i've belonged to the society of children's writers and illustrators for 30 years and have been a daycare director, majored in elementary education, and raised four kids.
the nostalgic cover is "a sculptured cover book."
this charming, thin, spiral-bound book looks instantly special. it is by helen schad.
i could not find another book like it for sale online. i suspect that many of these never survived. the delicate nature of the close-together spirals and thin design may have been too fragile for little hands.
it would make adorable decor on an easel in a child's bedroom, nursery, preschool classroom, playroom, or homeschooling area.
the book is in excellent condition for its age. most of the pages are nearly perfect, except for a few very tiny corner bends.
the pages turn easily and they are still intact with the spiral-binding until a few pages in, when it starts to get a little detached at the very bottom. no pages are missing. the pages are still attached, but delicately so.
for a book this old and made this way, i think it's in remarkable shape and a true treasure.
i found the book outside kansas city in a tiny town's antique store. i am guessing that little book came from some bedroom right there in that little town, where it lived for all these decades.
the photos show all the details.
