this is a beauty! the book is in excellent condition.
this adorable, very funny story will be loved by your kids or grandkids. though told in an old-fashioned manner, the story still holds up today. the illustrations by john miller are perfect. the rhythm of the story makes it easy to read aloud.
the author is gertrude crampton. somehow, if you say her name out loud, doesn't it sound like the perfect name for someone who wrote about a growly bear?
now 50-years-old, the book is still collected and in demand.
even if you go growling and prowling and scowling all over the world, it's doubtful you'll find one in better shape than this one. the cover shows a tiny bit of aging. the only real flaw anywhere is the last name, "dill," written on the title page. otherwise, every page in the book looks nearly new.
i found the book at an exceptionally nice garage sale. several generations of a big family combined their items for a massive sale, well-organized and clean.
maybe "the large and growly bear" can find a good home with you?
but bear-ware: you can't help but fall in love with that big ol' bear!
