this book looks straight from the good ol' days of roy rogers. it is from the beloved series, the buddy books, a fact i needed to research to find out, popular before i was born...even though i'm pretty darned vintage myself now.
this charming cover caught my eye at an estate sale. the first page's "this is my book" is completed in handwriting by someone named richard lee west, then the name is stamped twice on the next page. so it's clear that the book was well-loved back in the day by richard lee west.
please check my photos to see both the book's charm and flaws. due to its age and wear/tear, the specifics of the book's conditional issues include:
- a small tear on the blank first page's bottom inside portion;
- page 23-24 is still tucked into the book, though torn and missing a portion of the top of the page;
- page 49-50 is missing a portion of the page's lower part;
- the inside back cover's last page is torn and missing a portion of the top part.
i try to be very, very specific on each vintage book's condition. i want you to know what you're buying. at the sale where i bought the book, i didn't take the time to check its publication date. at home, when i realized how long ago it was published, i was surprised, because for that age, it's in decent condition.
this book is special. you'll fall in love with its retro story and illustrations. it would look adorable on an easel stand in a wild west nursery.
