this wooden puzzle is brightly-colored and makes a lovely gift for a child who loves puzzles or for a homeschooling family or for a teacher.
the continental united states is on the top three/fourths of the puzzle board. alaska and hawaii are shown in two separate pieces on the lower left, with neither to scale (kids might want to study the actual size of both states and figure out which other state is the closest to their same size). the middle and right side of the lower portion shows all the state capitals.
each puzzle piece shows the name/location of the state capital. it also shows the state's name. many states also show some small artwork representing something the state is known for.
the back side is plain wood.
